The Mormons--

The Mormons ("Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints" (LDS) are in the news these days. Besides being among the fastest growing religious movements in the world, one of their members has a good shot at capturing his party's nomination for the White House in 2008.

"To call an individual a Mormon 150 years ago was akin to calling someone an Islamic terrorist today. In the last century they have gone from a periphery group that dropped polygamy as a core belief to now defining what is the mainstream in American life."

Is Mormonism simply another Christian denomination? Or, is it in fact, a different religion altogether?

Pastor Chuck will be using the heralded PBS documentary The Mormons viewing clips followed by teaching and discussion. The aim of this 8 week class is stated in its title: To give a fair hearing to the claims of Mormonism and to give a thoughtful response from the standpoint of classical Biblical Christianity.
