Betty Kuhlman Memorial
Betty, a longtime resident of Venice, Florida and Northville, Michigan,
has transitioned to eternal life at the age of 95. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 57 years, William H. Kuhlman.
Betty grew up in Taylor, Michigan daughter of Clarence and Alma Berry
and sister to Kenneth. During her schooling at Melvindale High School,
she met Bill and after his stint with the army and navy, they married
and lived in campus quarters at Michigan State University, where Bill
achieved his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
The Kuhlmans settled in Allen Park and lived their veterinary hospital
until Bill developed a business venture in the Virgin Islands and the
entire family moved there for nearly two years. Eventually they
returned to Michigan raise their family. Betty and Bill retired from
being co-owners of a travel agency in 1986 and moved to Venice,
where she continued to enjoy vacations with her husband throughout
Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Her granddaughters even joined
grandma on an Alaskan cruise.
Betty was a wonderful mother to Stephen Kuhlman (Mary Lange) and
Kimberly Joynes (Roland). She had 3 granddaughters, Kristin Dupont
(Jason), Elise Gibson (Joseph), and Laureli D. Hattaway (Shad), and had
4 great grandchildren Ava, William, Benjamin and Sophia.
Special thanks to the staff at Bay Village of Sarasota who provided great
care while laughing at her jokes and her orders of ‘cerveza!’
